The Beothuk

The Beothuk (pronounced /biːˈɒtɨk/ or /biːˈɒθɨk/) (also spelled Beothic, Beothick, Beothuck)[1] were the native inhabitants of the island of Newfoundland at the time of European contact in the 15th and 16th centuries. With the death in 1829 of Shanawdithit, a woman who was the last recorded surviving member, the people became officially extinct as a separate ethnic group.[import export jewelleries
